Ian Tonks appointed to Hong Kong RAE 2020 Panel

Professor Ian Tonks will be Deputy Convenor of the Business and Economics Panel for the 2020 Hong Kong Research Assessment Exercise.

Professor Ian Tonks has been appointed Deputy Convenor of the Business and Economics Panel for Hong Kong’s Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). This will take place in 2020.

Hong Kong’s RAE is organised by the territory’s University Grants Committee (UGC). It assesses the performance of UGC-funded universities, encouraging world-class research and promoting excellence.

The RAE assesses research quality. It does this by defining areas of strength and making recommendations for improvements.

The UGC has conducted five RAEs. These took place in 1993, 1996, 1999, 2006 and 2014.

Ian served on the UK’s Business and Management Studies sub-panel for REF2014. He is also a member of the Business and Management Studies sub-panel for REF2021.
