In October and November, the University of Bath Institute for Policy Research (IPR) and Department of Economics will run a new series of webinars on health policy and the economic impact of COVID-19.
The series, put together by Dr Eleonora Fichera, welcomes an array of contributors from across the University and beyond, who will discuss healthcare during lockdown; the future of healthcare; and the impact of COVID-19 on research and development in life sciences.
The series begins on 28 October with Senior Fellow of Public Health and Inequalities at The King’s Fund, David Buck, who joins Professor Harry Rutter to discuss population health, and the future of health and care in England.
On 25 November, Head of Economics Research at The Health Foundation, Dr Elaine Kelly, joins Dr Matt Dickson to discuss how use of emergency care and GP services changed after lockdown; the potential drivers of those changes; and the possible implications for future NHS activity and population health.
Finishing the series on 30 November is Professor Mireia Jofre-Bonet, Head of Research and Vice President of the Office of Health Economics (OHE). She joins Professor Christos Vasilakis to discuss some of the OHE’s research projects, and how COVID-19 has impacted research and development.
On running the series, Dr Fichera adds:

The aim is for the series to continue, with a new programme of speakers, in 2021.
