We are pleased to announce that from Wednesday 16 February 2022, University-managed Macs will receive Microsoft Defender, the recommended and supported anti-virus and anti-malware solution for campus devices.
What is Microsoft Defender
Microsoft Defender is next-generation antivirus and malware defence. It offers advanced protection by scanning, detecting, and removing viruses, spyware and malware.
What you need to do
You don't need to do anything as your Mac will automatically receive Microsoft Defender. You can identify when it is installed through the presence of a shield icon in your Menu Bar.
What about your other anti-virus software
Microsoft Defender is the only recommended and supported antivirus/malware software for University-managed Macs and we recommend the removal of any other unsupported software.
