Professor Mary Hayden and Professor Jeff Thompson taught the first unit of the new qualification to teachers in Amman. The teaching took place at the Queen Rania Teacher Academy(QRTA) from 6-9 August 2017.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Studies is sponsored by the University of Bath to provide support to Jordan during the current humanitarian crisis. This course is only available to Jordanian teachers.
Earlier in the year, 12 teachers from Jordan were selected to take part in the course. All are working in Jordanian public (government-funded) schools. Many schools are introducing double shifts to cope with the influx of refugee students.
The teachers are scheduled to complete two more units in the next 18 months.
