Dr Andrew Ross has been elected by acclamation to serve as one of two professional services staff members of Council, effective from 1 August 2021 for a term of three years. He will replace Mesar Hameed, who announced earlier this year that he did not intend to seek re-election at the expiry of his current term of office. Malcolm Holley is the other member of professional services staff currently serving on Council.

Dr Andrew Ross has worked at the University for eight and a half years and is currently Head of Widening Access and Participation in the Directorate of Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach.

The vacancy on Council was advertised from 9 March 2021. When only a single nomination had been received by the deadline of 26 April 2021, the candidate was deemed to have been elected by acclamation.
