The SAMIS-based system identifies and maintains the location of all our undergraduate students in the UK and overseas during their professional placement and/or study abroad by bringing together data from all the Faculties, the School and the International Mobility Office.
The system will enable the placement and the international mobility teams to monitor student wellbeing during the placement or exchange, as well as support Tier 4 visa monitoring requirements alongside fees and funding information for HESA reporting.
In addition, PIMS will provide in-depth management information on placements, study abroad and organisational relationships, often seen by students and employers as one of the key differentiators of the University’s undergraduate courses.
The PIMS project forms part of the University’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system development, which includes the Corporate Engagement database. Further updates will be rolled out throughout the year to incorporate placements, projects and study exchanges for our postgraduate students.
The project has been under development for the past two years and the launch is the culmination of hard work by colleagues across the University.
