Would you like to better recognise your own enterprising qualities as well as the entrepreneurial opportunities in your research environment?

The Enterprising Researcher workshops are designed to equip you with skills and tools to assess opportunities and negotiate the path to commercialising your research from idea to market.

The workshops will draw examples from successful spinouts and highlight key resources at the University and other local facilities available.

Researchers across all disciplines who are interested in developing their commercial acumen and expanding their enterprise support network are encouraged to take part. The knowledge and skills gained can be applied to all research areas and disciplines, particularly those with a technology focus.

This training series is available to University of Bath research staff and doctoral students and will be delivered online.

The course consists of three independent but interconnecting and interactive workshops which can be taken individually or as part of a series. Those wishing to take part in Workshop 3 (Entrepreneur Experience) are required to have taken Workshop 1 or 2.

Workshops:

  1. Spark: Spotting Great Ideas – 1-day workshop, 31 January 2022
  2. Ignition: Business Builder – 2-day workshop, 15-16 February 2022
  3. Lift Off: Entrepreneur Experience – 3-day workshop, 14-16 March 2022

Phil Brown, Head of Technology Transfer in Research and Innovation Services (RIS), says:

The workshops are an ideal opportunity for researchers to develop their skills for taking enterprising ideas to market. I would advise anyone who is considering commercialising their research or setting up their own spinout to sign up for this practical training.

The Programme is funded by the UKRI-EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) and EPSRC funding to the Doctoral College at the University of Bath.
