Being childless not by choice can be a difficult and isolating experience, which can have a profound effect on our wellbeing. And there are often associated triggers in the workplace.

The No Kidding group is hosted by two staff wellbeing champions with experience of childlessness. You can read more in our blog post hosted in our Employee Wellbeing blog.

Group aims

The No Kidding group aims to:

  • help build connections between staff and enable members to share their experiences of childlessness
  • provide a safe space for staff who are childless not by choice to discuss topics of interest
  • encourage members to ask for support or advice

While the experience of childlessness is a very personal one and everyone has an individual journey, group members have found it beneficial to be able to connect with others in the workplace, reducing the sense of isolation.

What’s involved

You can join a private Teams group where we share useful resources articles and reflections (your Teams membership will not be visible to others in the organisation).

If you wish to, you can join with others for regular meetings, for support and to chat about your experiences.

The No Kidding group is a space where members can share as much or as little as they feel comfortable with, where you can just meet with and listen to others if you prefer. The group guidelines are kept under review with input from group members as the network grows, to ensure members feel safe and comfortable to connect in this space.

You can express your interest in joining this informal group by emailing no-kidding@bath.ac.uk. Enquiries are treated in confidence. We will respond with more details so you can decide if the group is a good fit for you. Please do ask if you have any questions.
