In response to student feedback, we will be undertaking a programme of work to improve the facilities for students living in University accommodation. As part of this planned work, we will be introducing an external social space, with covered seating and designated BBQ areas. This has been designed to expand student social spaces and promote a community feel.

The work on these areas is scheduled to take place summer 2020, however, in preparation, we will be removing some trees from around the accommodation buildings. This will allow necessary improvements to be made to the external landscaping and allow other vegetation to thrive.

We will not be removing any mature trees, and the majority of trees being removed are in poor health. Where possible, we will replace these trees with expertly chosen specimen trees, which will respond well to the conditions on campus. The planting of the new trees will take place in autumn next year; once all building work is complete.

Removal of the trees is scheduled to start 11 November 2019, and we anticipate work to be completed within three weeks.
