The University has appointed Professor Steve Brammer, currently Executive Dean of Macquarie Business School, to the role of Dean of the School of Management, following approval by University Council last week.

As Executive Dean of the Business School of Macquarie University, Professor Brammer is responsible for the strategic direction of one of Australia's leading centres of business research and education. He is also a member of the University's Executive Group, having made significant contributions to the leadership, positioning, and prosperity of the wider University. Prior to his current role, Professor Brammer held senior roles in Business Schools at the Universities of Birmingham and Warwick, having begun his academic career here at the University of Bath.

Professor Brammer is an internationally renowned scholar in the fields of corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and stakeholder management, his research having explored firm-stakeholder relationships, the strategic management of these, and corresponding impacts on company performance and reputation.

The appointment, which followed a competitive recruitment process, comes at a particularly exciting time for the School, both in terms of building on its ambitious vision and realising the benefits of the new School of Management building.

Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Ian White, said: “I am delighted that Professor Brammer will be joining the senior team at the University of Bath. Professor Brammer’s impressive international leadership experience in research, business, sustainability, and strategy will be of very great benefit to the School and the wider University. I look forward to welcoming him and to working with him as part of our Executive Board. His appointment will strengthen the excellent international reputation of the School.”

Professor Brammer said: “I’m thrilled to be re-joining the University, having begun my career in the School of Management in 1998. It’s a hugely exciting time to join the leadership of the School of Management and the University. The new state-of-the art building, developments in the regional economy, and rich potential collaborations across the campus are all enormous opportunities for the School of Management. I am very much looking forward to working with the community of the University to realise our shared ambitions.”
