Dr Mitchell, senior lecturer and associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy & Pharmacology, recognising that there was an essential need for a text fully describing fundamental statistics and experimental design, set about drawing on his years of experience and learnings to fill this void.

Paul adds: “I initially started writing this book simply to provide the Pharmacology group and their undergraduate students with a learning and teaching resource following my eventual retirement (which for some reason I keep putting off!). However, I was persuaded to take the idea to a publisher and eventually submitted a proposal to Wiley.”

Discussing topics from statistical concepts and methods, to the practical aspects of data collection and the rigorous statistical approach required for publication in scientific journals, this book will act as an invaluable learning resource suitable for undergraduate students, PhDs and early-career research pharmacologists.

The textbook is to initially be included in the list of highly recommended books for Pharmacology undergraduate and master’s students, but is expected to go on to reach all first year Biosciences students and may be purchased from Thurs 5 May 2022 from outlets including Wiley, Waterstones, WHSmith and Amazon.
