Alumni from around the world came together online for the 55th AGM of Convocation on 16 June 2021, chaired by alumnus and Pro-Chancellor Roger Whorrod OBE.

The AGM featured an update from the University of Bath’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Ian White DL FREng, reflecting on the successes of our staff and students over the past year, as well as outlining our vision for the future. You can now read the University Strategy document in full.

Molly Southwood, Acting Director of Development & Alumni Relations, also gave an update on how alumni came together to support our community, including raising over £140,000 to support students through Covid-19.

A paper was also shared at the meeting, which proposed that Convocation should be formally disbanded as a statutory body but that the annual meeting should be retained and developed further as an accessible channel for alumni to engage with the University at an institutional level.

The current review of the University’s governance framework is being undertaken by the Office of Strategic Governance and offers an opportunity to formalise this change.

Alumni are invited to share their views on this proposal by contacting the Strategic Governance team.
