It is with great sadness the University announces the death of Bethan Foley, a deeply loved member of staff at the Westwood Nursey.

Bethan, who attended Purbrook School in Portsmouth before moving to Ralph Allen in Combe Down, was working as an apprentice nursery teacher at the University. Sadly, Bethan passed away on 11 November 2021 following a prolonged period of intense treatment for extremely rare Grey Zone Lymphoma.

Following Bethan’s terminal diagnosis in 2020, colleagues from across the University contributed a fundraising campaign to support her end-of-life experience.

Professor Ian White, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath, said: “I was extremely sad to hear of Bethan’s death recently and wish to extend my sincere condolences on behalf of the University of Bath.”

We know that Bethan’s death will affect fellow colleagues and friends and a range of support is available for our staff and students:
