The University is saddened to announce that Thom Lepic died on 11 June.

Thom joined the Faculty of Engineering and Design as Programmes Officer in April 2019. Prior to this, in November 2017, he had been appointed to the role of Programmes Administrator in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Emma Greeley, Programmes Manager, Faculty of Engineering and Design, said: “Thom was a true gem and an example to us all. Innovative and incisive, he undertook his role with pride and absolute professionalism. He was a principled and inspirational team leader, and a generous and compassionate colleague. He was also a regular visitor to the arena of the absurd and hilarious, an arena that he shared with me and other colleagues on those occasions when levity really was very necessary.

“These qualities informed a good deal of Thom’s character. In addition, he was extremely determined and courageous, and it was this determination and courage that helped sustain him throughout his periods of treatment, following the diagnosis of a non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. When, very recently this diagnosis was confirmed as terminal, Thom’s courage and determination came once more to the fore, and together with the help of his natural grace and humility, he made the effort to send thoughtful and kind messages of farewell. He was a truly gentle man.”

Thom is survived by his wife Louise and son Elliot, aged six.

The funeral service will be at the Peace Garden, St Mary’s Church Charlcombe, Bath, on Saturday 2 July. Thom’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Lymphoma Action UK and Dorothy House.

We know that Thom’s death will affect colleagues and a range of support is available:
