The University of Bath is delighted to have signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea University. The partnership aims to develop academic exchange and cooperation in research and teaching between the University of Bath and Korea University.
The Agreement will allow for joint participation in research activities, such as conferences, joint cultural programmes and the exchange of information. It will also give opportunities for postgraduate student exchange and exchange of faculty members.
The partnership, formed by the department of Chemistry at Bath and the Research Centre of Next Generation Molecular Theranostics at Korea University, is based on combined research strengths in bio-oriented Drug Delivery Systems and the design and synthesis of the drug molecules. This area is highlighted by the South Korean government as a key area of research development.
Korea University has state-of-the-art research facilities and a track record of innovative research from world-renowned experts. The Research Centre of Next Generation Molecular Theranostics is focusing on research utilizing sensor-based drug delivery systems (this is the main focus of the partnership) as well as neuro degenerative diseases, chemical probes and photodynamic/photothermal therapy.
Founded in 1905, Korea University is widely acknowledged as one of the country’s oldest, largest and the most prestigious universities in Korea. Its reputation for quality is based on excellence in teaching, research and service to Korean society. Korea University is part of SKY, an acronym used to refer to the three most prestigious universities in South Korea; Seoul National University, Korea University and Yonsei University.
