The University of Bath will welcome Professor Jacqui True to campus for her first in-person visit from the 26th April - 3rd May 2022. This follows activities held remotely as a Global Chair during 2019/2020. Professor True will attend a number of engagements during her visit, including delivering a public lecture on Twenty-Five Years after Beijing: Backlash against Women's Rights and the Decline of the Liberal International Order.

The lecture will assess the opportunities of women’s frontline participation in peacebuilding and the feminist foreign policy movement as well as the threats of resurgent patriarchies for world order.

Professor Jacqui True, FASSA, is a Professor of International Relations at the School of Social Sciences at Monash University. She is a prominent public advocate for the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda and gender-inclusive peacebuilding. Professor True is the founder and Director of Monash University’s Centre for Gender, Peace and Security, which is a leading global, policy-oriented research centre on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in the Asia-Pacific region.

A renowned international scholar and an expert on gender-based violence, Professor Jacqui True’s research focuses on understanding the political economy of violence against women globally. Professor True’s Global Chair is hosted by Dr Jennifer Thomson in the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies.

Professor Jacqui True's Global Chair reflects on the achievements of the 20th anniversary of the first United Nations Security Council Resolution on Women, Peace and Security and develops joint research on feminist foreign policy. Engaging with our staff and students, Professor True contributes especially to Bath's burgeoning Gender and Sexuality Research Cluster, which works across the University, and lends further support to our strategic partnership with Monash University.
