They are both based at Centro de Investigacion en Matematicas, Guanajuato, Mexico (CIMAT), Mexico and will remain in Bath for one year.

Ms Palau will continue her PhD research in the area of branching processes under the supervision of Professor Andreas Kyprianou.

Dr Victor Rivero brings additional research expertise in the theory of Lévy processes and self-similar Markov processes to the Department of Mathematical Sciences. He will also be working with Professor Kyprianou looking at signature problems that lie at the heart of the interaction between the theory of α-stable processes and real-valued self-similar Markov processes.

Whilst based in Bath, Dr Rivero will be presenting a 20-week lecture programme via Prob-L@B to Bath graduate students, and to students round the UK, in part via the Access Grid. He will also be visiting a number of researchers around the UK.

Dr Rivero's visit has been made possible through a mixture of funding from EPSRC, CONACyT and the University of Bath’s International Researcher Mobility Scheme. Ms Palau is supported jointly the University's International Researcher Mobility Scheme and CONACyT.

Their stay in Bath continues a long tradition of strong research collaboration between CIMAT and Prob-L@B over a period of many years, which has previously seen visits in both directions by several researchers at the level of PhD students, postdocs and faculty.
