We're changing the way Outlook apps and add-ins are installed to enhance security

The way you install 3rd party (non-Microsoft) apps/add-ins within Outlook Desktop and Outlook Web App will change from Tuesday 8 June.

What is changing

Approval from IT Security will be required before apps/add-ins that haven't been developed by Microsoft can be installed.

When the change is happening

On Tuesday 8 June from 8am.

Why the change is being implemented

This is a security measure to prevent apps/add-ins from exfiltrating data to other providers systems and potentially retaining access to your account.

What are the benefits to you

You can feel assured that the apps/add-ins you use will have been checked and agreed upon by IT before using them with University data.

What will happen to the apps/add-ins you already have installed

Any apps/add-ins that are developed by Microsoft will continue to be available. If you lose access to an app/add-in that you need, you should contact the IT Service Desk using our IT Help Form.
