You can get support via phone or live chat.

What is it?

It is a confidential service to give you immediate advice and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Be Well - Talk Now is offered by Student Support to provide free additional support alongside our on-campus services.

You will be able to speak to an adviser who will guide you through any issues you may currently be facing. This may include feeling stressed, anxious, money worries, homesickness, cultural difficulties, worried about a friend, relationship difficulties or anything else you feel is impacting on your mental health and wellbeing.

Talk Now is available no matter where you are in the world by phone or live chat.

Follow up support is available for more complex issues, including counselling (currently not available to students located in the USA and Canada). Counselling is also available in multiple languages. This service offers access to counsellors from a diverse range of backgrounds. If you are referred for counselling, and would prefer to speak to a male/female counsellor, a BAME counsellor or a counsellor with additional training in LGBTQ+ related issues, then please make your preference known to your Case Manager. Talk Now will do their best to accommodate these preferences where possible.

This service is available to all students but is particularly useful for those that find it difficult to access our normal services including:

  • students off campus
  • students requiring support out of hours
  • students on placement anywhere in the world
  • students who would like counselling in their first language including: Mandarin, Italian, German, Lithuanian, Polish and Russian
  • postgraduate research students
  • students studying at a doctoral training partner
  • distance learners

You will need to provide some basic information and agree to the confidentiality agreement.

Be Well – Talk Now is delivered by an external partner Spectrum Life on behalf of Student Support who oversee and monitor the quality of the service provided.

Be Well, Talk Now is available in addition to the Student Support Advice Service who continue to provide appointments every day of the year. Alternatively, you can contact the SU Advice and Support Centre.
