Sports scholarships enable our talented athletes to train and compete alongside their studies so they can achieve great things. We were the first UK university to introduce sports scholarships in the mid-1970s and today 40 student athletes are benefitting from your remarkable support.

Our scholarships have supported spectacular athletes across a huge range of disciplines, from Olympic medallists to Premiership Rugby players. Swimmer and Mechanical Engineering student Tom Dean is supported by a Bill Whiteley Scholarship and is training towards the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.

“The financial aid takes huge pressure off my family and me, and without it the cost of studying and training would have made this year much more challenging,” he says. “This means I am able to focus on my work both in and out of the pool. Thank you once again for your help.”
