EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics (SAMBa) funding

If you are interested in doing a PhD in the Mathematical Sciences, SAMBa may provide funding.

Funding is available from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics (SAMBa).

You could receive funding for up to four years. This includes:

  • Home tuition fees
  • training support fund of £1,250 each year
  • maintenance stipend of £19,237 each year (2024/25 rate)

Funding eligibility

Most of this funding is for Home students. In line with guidance from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the number of awards available to International students will be limited to 30% of the total UKRI funding (1 or 2 per year). Self-funding applications will be considered.

Academic eligibility

To be eligible for this award you should have, or be expecting to obtain, a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) in mathematics or in a subject with substantial mathematical content.
