An easy transition

Having done my undergraduate degree in Economics and Politics at Bath, staying at the University has enabled an easy transition from undergraduate to postgraduate studies. Wanting to pursue a career in consultancy, I decided to do the MSc Economics to help me become a competent analyst.

Gaining new skills around the application of computer programmes in economic research is a particular strength of this course. I'm also enjoying environmental economics, a previously unknown topic for me.

Smaller classes, better discussions

The postgraduate course is definitely more demanding, but with the experience gained from my undergraduate degree I feel more in control of my studies, and better able to cope with the workload. I enjoy the smaller class sizes, allowing deeper discussions and a greater understanding of each subject, as well as more interaction with the lecturers and my classmates.

Consultancy opportunities

My dissertation is about the effect of immigration on electoral outcome and when I graduate I want to build on it, so I'll be looking for consultancy opportunities in policymaking and government-related work.
