Institute for Sustainability - Collaborate with us

Our research collaborations with industry and other external partners take many different forms.

Procedure

Scientists and engineers in industry often have very different and valuable perspectives on research problems, shaped by the need to deliver profitable yet sustainable products to the market. Involvement of industrial partners in collaborative research projects, PhD projects or visiting positions is, therefore, a key feature of our work.

By involving external partners, we ensure that our students and staff keep their focus on industry-relevant research and gain experience in working with stakeholders outside academia.

Through our many industrial partners and through our innovation programmes – including the Sustainable Technologies Business Acceleration Hub (STBAH) and the West of England Sustainable Technology Scale-Up Programme – we have cultivated close links with industry, from startups to multinational corporations, providing support and knowledge exchange between sectors.

With our innovation centres, the Innovation Centre for Applied Sustainable Technologies (iCAST) and the Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre (IDRIC) we aim to bring together academic expertise and industry to facilitate innovation in sustainable technologies.

How we can work together

Our research collaborations with external partners can take the form of strategic corporate partnerships, industry-funded research projects, partnerships in Government-funded projects, funding or co-funding of PhD studentships, knowledge transfer partnerships, internships, visiting fellowships, consultancy, innovation support and more.
