In this talk, Xuesong (Andy) Gao will share his experience of academic publishing as an author, manuscript reviewer, and journal editor.

He will:

  • answer a few questions that first-time authors often have regarding academic publishing
  • share how he evaluates manuscripts as a reviewer
  • talk about how he makes editorial decisions

Xuesong (Andy) Gao

Xuesong (Andy) Gao is an associate professor in language and literacy education at the School of Education, University of New South Wales, Australia. He has been involved in language teacher education in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Taiwan. His research interests include language learning, language education policy, and language teacher education.

He edits International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching. He is also a senior associate editor for The Asia Pacific Education Researcher and a section editor for Sage Open (Education Section). He was a co-editor of System: An International Journal of Educational Technology and Applied Linguistics (2013-2021).
