The Future of Work Research Centre hosts a discussion on identities, to celebrate the publication of The Oxford Handbook of Identities in Organizations.

This event will focus on major themes in the research and theorizing of identities in organizations. Join Andrew Brown and several panels of esteemed guest speakers, to explore how, why and when identities are constructed in organizational contexts, and their implications for how workplaces function. The discussion will include presentations, and lively debates on the future of the field.

Although identities have been a major topic in organization studies for more than two decades, this book is the first collection of research written specifically by, and for, management and organisation scholars.

About the speakers

The event is hosted by Andrew Brown, the editor of The Oxford Handbook of Identities in Organizations. Andrew is Professor of Organization Studies at the University of Bath. He has previously held faculty positions at the universities of Manchester, Nottingham, Cambridge and Warwick. His primary research interests centre on issues of identity, especially as they relate to sensemaking, narrative, and power. His work has been published in journals including Academy of Management Review, Organization Studies, Journal of Management Studies, and Human Relations. He currently serves on the editorial boards of Organization Studies, Journal of Management Studies, and Organization, and he is an Associate Editor for Human Relations.
