Catherine Mealing-Jones Appointed by Council

Will undertake the responsibilities of members of governing bodies as set out in the CUC Guide for Members of Higher Education Governing Bodies in the UK.

Career

Catherine is the Chief Executive of the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority. Her role is to ensure that the National Park is an exemplar in tackling the climate and biodiversity crises and she is forging ahead with creating a Park where nature and communities thrive. Prior to that Catherine was a senior civil servant in a number of diverse roles including Director of Growth at the UK Space Agency, where she led the work to shape and grow the UK space sector, and leading major business change and technology programmes as the Director of Technology for the UK Border Force.

Catherine has over 30 years of public service experience in frontline delivery, directing major programmes, providing policy advice and leading change. She has worked in central government, abroad in the Middle East and Africa and in regional government. Her first degree is in English, she has a Masters in European Politics and a Postgraduate diploma in Public Finance and Leadership from Warwick Business School.

Catherine is a graduate of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority Project Leadership Programme. She is a Chartered Public Finance Accountant and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

Catherine has previously been a school governor and a non-executive director at the Satellite Applications Catapult.

Catherine is also a member of the Remuneration Committee.
