Role
Nigel's role is to present an authentic and relevant Christian faith on campus, building Christian unity, evangelism and contributing to city wide and world-wide mission.
He is committed to the re-awakening of faith in UK, the "foundation stones" of which, he thinks, are unity, compassion and the power of the Holy Spirit in prayer. He is married to Pat and they have 2 grown up daughters, one son-in-law and two grandchildren.
Career
After surgical training, and while working in A&E in Bristol, he trained for the Anglican church. He was ordained into self-supporting ministry in 1999. He continued working as an “ordained doctor” in A&E at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (as consultant), at Dorothy House Hospice (as specialty doctor), and as priest was Associate Minister, at All Saints Weston, Bath until July 2019. From 2011-2016 he was Director of Student Affairs at the Medical School in Bristol. In September 2016 he moved from self-supporting to stipendiary ministry, working in the same location – outside church. He began as University Chaplain and team leader in the University of Bath. He and Pat now worship at Bath Abbey.
Education
Nigel qualified in Medicine from Cambridge (Emmanuel College and Addenbrooke’s Hospital) in 1980. His passed his post graduate exams (FRCS, FFAEM) while working in the NHS. He studied at the West of England Ministerial training college (WEMTC) and gained a diploma in theology in (1998).
