Architectural Design, Construction and Technology

We carry out world-leading research in CASA on architectural design practice and technology, and teach on master's and PhD degrees.

Our research is published primarily in academic journals, and also in books, and disseminated through lectures, conference papers and public engagement activities. Our specialisms include:

  • architectural practice and integrated design
  • design management
  • architectural tectonics and computer modelling
  • the design and computation of complex architectural structures
  • environmental sustainability in architecture
  • design for health and well being
  • climate resilience in buildings

We teach on many courses at Bath, including undergraduate degrees in Architecture and the MSc in Modern Building Design. We also supervise PhD students. If you are thinking of joining us for a PhD, you are welcome to look for the most appropriate supervisor for your subject and contact them at an early stage for advice on applying.
