Route
map of the course,
in .pdf format. NB: To view the .pdf file requires Adobe Acrobat
Reader. To get it free, go to the Adobe Acrobat Reader web site. Course DetailsCourse Record: RICHARD NURURKAR, 14:01The course is widely regarded as one of fastest and best 5k's in the country. The route starts alongside the indoor tennis courts of the Sports Training Village (STV) at the University of Bath, and completes two laps of the campus, via the following route: Run down Convocation Avenue towards the exit of the University, and opposite the Astro-Turf pitches, turn right alongside car park 'A'. At the end of this road, turn right up towards the University and after passing the Chemistry Building on your left hand side, follow the road to the left. The route then passes underneath the University into the underpass. A 90' right turn takes you against the normal flow of traffic, back towards the STV. However upon exiting the underpass alongside the climbing wall, a left hand 'U' turn takes you back into the underpass. Proceed to the end of the buildings, and take a left turn into Car Park 'H'. A clockwise loop of the outside of the car park brings you out of the second entrance. Turn right, then left up towards the University accomodation. The road turns right, along the front of the 'Westwood' housing, and follow the road to until it again turns 90' right. Straight ahead brings you back to the start of Convocation Avenue, which is joined with a left turn. Follow the road roungs to the right to cross the start line and complete one lap. Repeat... On the second lap, upon crossing the finish line proceed alongside the Sports Training Village and turn 90' left at the end of the 50m pool. This will take you onto the track, and one lap in the standard anti-clockwise direction completes the distance. A lead car will be in use throughout the course, displaying timing information and providing a commentary information source. |
