Winter Indoor League - Champions

It is with great pride that we conclude the 2025/26 Winter Indoor Season. Venturers finished the league season as undisputed champions with a 100%-win rate. The club has enjoyed one of its most successful campaigns to date, securing a perfect record in the league and a competitive run in the Cup, getting promoted to Division A for the next season.

Match 1: vs. Bathford - Bathford 66/3 ; Venturers 67/0 (Won) We opened the season with a disciplined bowling performance. After being asked to field first, the bowling unit recovered from an early start to restrict Bathford to 66/3 from 10 overs. Santosh, Dinesh, and Bruce were particularly effective, utilizing the final three overs to stifle the scoring rate. Our chase was clinical; the openers, Santosh and Matt, reached their retirement scores of 25 with aggressive hitting (including four sixes between them), allowing the middle order to secure the victory with minimal risk.

Match 2: vs. Death Row - Star - Venturers 109/6 ; Death Row 64/6 (Won) In a high-stakes match against a strong contender, the Venturers posted a formidable 109. Santosh (44) and Krish (27) provided an explosive platform of 42 runs in the first three overs. Defensively, Ajeet delivered a standout performance with a five-dot ball over that shifted the momentum. Supported by sharp fielding across the board, the bowlers restricted the opposition to 62/5.

Match 3: vs. Bear Flat Dads - Bear Flat Dads 67/3 ; Venturers 68/3 (Won) This victory was built on veteran composure and strike rotation. After setting a competitive target led by the consistent form of Santosh and Matt, the defensive strategy focused on a “squeeze” tactic in the middle overs. Bruce and Ajeet maintained high pressure, forcing the opposition into high-risk shots that led to regular wickets and solidified our position at the top of the table.

Match 4: vs. Bath Uni 2s - Venturers 105/6 ; Bath Uni 2s 60/6 (Won) Facing a young, athletic University side required a high level of tactical awareness. We focused on a “weight of runs” strategy to ensure we batted out our full allocation. Matt (28) and Santosh (26) provided the bulk of the runs, supported by Hemu (12). Disciplined bowling from the core unit eventually broke their resistance in the final overs to keep our undefeated streak alive.

Match 5: vs. Bell CC Venturers 119/3 ; The Bell 62/6 (Won) The league campaign concluded with a dominant 57-run victory. We posted a season-high 119, led by Santosh (35)* and Matt (25). The bowling unit was lethal in the second innings, claiming powerplay wickets and eventually bowling Bell CC out for 62. This win officially crowned Venturers as the “Champions” of the league.

Cup Tournament - Round 1 - vs. Bell CC - Venturers 110/6 ; The Bell 63/6 (Won) After a rapid opening stand by Hemendra and Santosh, the team faced a mid-innings crisis, collapsing to 40/3. Matt and Siddhu stepped in to steady the ship before a pivotal partnership between Siddhu (33) and Joji (14) rebuilt the total. Through quick singles and punishing extras, they surpassed the 80-run mark before Bruce joined Siddhu to rocket the score to 110. In the second innings, Siddhu and Santosh claimed early wickets while Joji secured multiple catches and a clean-bowled finish to dismiss Bell CC for 63.

Cup Tournament - Quarter Final - vs. The STAR - Venturers 81/6 ; The Star 82/3 (Lost) In the final game of our season, we faced a premier side in a heavyweight clash. It was a high-quality encounter played with immense spirit. While the Venturers maintained pressure for much of the game and fought hard to stay in the contest, the opposition’s depth eventually tipped the scale in their favour. Santosh, Siddhu and Joji contributed to batting while Prasokh, Santosh and Joji gave us hope with some tight bowling. Despite the exit, the performance was a fitting end to a season where we proved we could compete with the very best.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to every single player (Matt, Siddhant, Ajeet, Santosh, Steve, Bruce, Prasokh, Hirshith, Dinesh, Hemendra, Krish) who stepped onto the field this season and Gregory who volunteered for opposition on few occasions to ensure we have a game. Your commitment, skill, and team spirit made this historic 5-0 league run possible.

Off to Outdoors in weeks……..
