The majority of students progress with minimal need for personal support other than from family and friends. However, in the course of their work Personal Tutors will encounter some students who are experiencing difficulties that are a cause for concern. This guidance has been written to provide additional information and guidance for Personal Tutors about the additional support available.
This guidance aims to:
- raise awareness of the kinds of difficulties that students may experience
- discuss briefly the pastoral role of staff in the University
- provide practical advice to help staff respond effectively and appropriately
- identify the most appropriate sources of advice for staff and of support for students.
