A paper by The School of Management’s Dr Mehdi Boussebaa, co-authored with Prof. Yiannis Gabriel and Dr Shuchi Sinha, entitled “Englishization in offshore call centres: A postcolonial perspective” was one of just 22 papers to be nominated for the Academy of Management 2014 Carolyn Dexter Award for the Best International Paper.

The paper was then chosen as one of the six finalists to be rewarded with food and champagne at the Carolyn Dexter Award Reception in Philadelphia. The Carolyn Dexter Award is a highly prestigious All-Academy award; each nominated paper is put through a rigorous selection process. Papers selected for the award offer new, important insights and demonstrate international collaboration.

One of the evaluators of the paper made the following comment: "This is a fascinating paper that represents the unusual mix of being highly topical and on the leading edge of postcolonial theory….to me it is an excellent example of how the criteria for the Dexter Award can be illustrated in a most sophisticated and well-polished manner."

The paper has also been accepted for publication in the Journal of International Business Studies, which is the top-ranked journal in the field of international business, one of the best journals in the field of management studies and is included in the Top FT45 list.
