As part of their ongoing Corporate Partnership with The School of Management, BMT Hi-Q Sigma have worked with MSc in International Management students on the practice track element of their degree.

The practice track is designed to allow application of learned concepts and theories to practical problems and issues. As part of the project, students were divided into teams and tasked with analysing BMT Hi-Q Sigma’s knowledge management and branding strategies. Each team also visited the organisation’s Bath office to conduct staff interviews, gaining insights to inform their final presentation.

The presentations took place on Friday 26th June at The University of Bath. Each team also faced questions about their findings from selected BMT Hi-Q Sigma representatives, including Capability Director, Ivor Bennett.

The presentations precede written reports which will be produced by each student over the summer period. The reports will explore a particular aspect of the problems set by BMT Hi-Q Sigma in greater depth.

Dr Phil Tomlinson, Associate Professor in Business Economics and Director of Studies for MSc in International Management, said:
'The Practice Track is a new initiative on our MSc Programmes and BMT Hi-Q Sigma were an ideal partner. The students worked well in their teams and did very well in rising to the challenges set by BMT Hi-Q Sigma over the two weeks. It was clear they had learned a lot in how to analyse real world business problems - in a short time - by working closely with the team at BMT Hi-Q Sigma. We are delighted with how it ran and the insights the students provided will hopefully be useful to BMT.”

Simon Gould, Managing Director of BMT Hi-Q Sigma, commented:
“It has been very rewarding to work with students from the University of Bath. They provided some interesting and new insights on how we can develop our brand and how we realise the benefits of becoming a ‘learning organisation’. This is another example of the enormous value we have gained from being a Corporate Partner of the School of Management.”
