Mobile media: Hear from the experts

Are you interested in mobile entertainment & apps? Or are you just baffled by it all? Come along and hear leading names in the world of mobile media talk about the latest developments in the industry, in a free event organised by the Students’ Union on Wednesday 8 February (6pm-8pm in the East Building).

Speaker Stuart Scott is a University of Bath alumnus (BSc Physics with Physical Electronics 1987 and MBA 1993). He is CEO and co-founder of Intohand, a Bath-based firm that develops mobile apps and also tools to help people develop their own. They have helped the likes of Disney, Chelsea Football Club, Tesco Mobile and the Bath Rugby Club to break into the world of mobile applications. Stuart will be talking about the process that his team go in developing an app, from the ideas stage through to launching into the market.

There will also be refreshments and a chance to meet the speakers. The event is free but please sign up

Design an app

Do you think you’ve got an idea for the next Angry Birds or Evernote? Or are you interested in the tech side of app coding? At the event the Enterprise Department of the Students’ Union will be launching “Apps Crunch”, a competition where students of any discipline get the chance to design and make your very own app and maybe get it launched around the world!

Prizes include:

  • VIP access to international conference X Media Lab and the chance to work on your app with industry leaders Ralph Simon (Mobile strategist for Lady Gaga, Madonna, U2 and the World Cup; Inventor of the Ringtone.), Jeff Gomez (One of the world’s leading transmedia producers (Avatar, Tron, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean) and many more.
  • The chance to develop your app with local company Intohand 
  • Free entry to Bath Digital Festival events where you can learn how to make money from mobile apps.
