Superbug spreads from hospitals in major cities to regional healthcare centres

Hospitals in large cities act as breeding grounds for the superbug MRSA prior to it spreading to smaller hospitals, suggests a study by scientists from our Department of Biology & Biochemistry. Researchers found evidence that shows for the first time how the superbug spreads between different hospitals throughout the country.

Uni rugby rivals Bath & Durham join forces to take Europe’s biggest sevens tournament by storm

Ten players from Bath and five from Durham teamed up under the banner of sports brand 'Pride, Passion, Party' to thrill packed crowds at the world famous Kinsale Rugby Sevens in Ireland. Despite being the youngest squad in the competition – average age just 20 – and not having played together before, the students powered through to the final of the Elite competition.

Prizes awarded in memory of local bone disease pioneers

Top researchers in bone and joint diseases will be awarded scholarships by the Bath Institute for Rheumatic Diseases (BIRD) at a public prize-giving ceremony to be held at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases (RNHRD) on 15 May 2012.
