One of our many research strengths at Bath is the field of Policy Science. This was recognised externally by the award of the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further & Higher Education.
A multi-disciplinary team brought together by Professor Graham Room of the Department of Social & Policy Science has been developing plans to bring our work in this area together in a new Policy Research Institute.
These plans have been endorsed in principle by the University Executive and are now being developed further, leading up to a launch of the new Institute in 2013.
Executive congratulated those involved on their vision and ambition.
“Policy development at all levels requires a multi-disciplinary approach that plays well to the University’s strengths,” commented the Vice-Chancellor. “The new Institute has the potential to be another leading example of our ability to conduct research of international excellence and impact and offer innovative, multi-disciplinary postgraduate courses.”
Professor Room said: “Our goal is to do work of national and international significance which further enhances the University’s ability to contribute to and engage with the development of public policy.
“I am grateful to my colleagues who have supported the work of the steering group thus far and look forward to further discussions and input from across the University to help shape the future of this initiative.”
