Another very successful admissions round

I am very pleased to say that undergraduate admissions for 2013 are going extremely well. Overall the target number of places increased by 4.7% compared with last year and the University has already achieved a 12.7% increase in total acceptances.

Admissions processes worked smoothly and more decisions were processed in time for results day on Thursday 15 August than in previous years.

Staff from a wide range of teams, together with a small number of student ambassadors, supported the Confirmation Call Centre. They performed this challenging role with great professionalism, ensuring that several thousand calls were answered with sensitivity.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped with admissions. In particular, I am grateful to Departmental Admissions Tutors and their support teams, colleagues in BUCS who have provided critical technical support, the Marketing & Communications team and the central Admissions Office where staff have been making outstanding efforts since 7am last Sunday morning; thank you also to all the volunteers who staffed the Call Centre.

Congratulations to all involved and I am sure you all join me in looking forward to welcoming our new students in September.

Best wishes,

Professor Kevin Edge
Deputy Vice-Chancellor
