Bath is University of the Year for Student Experience

The University has been awarded the title of ‘University of the Year for Student Experience’ by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014.

We have topped the guide’s table of 121 universities for having ‘the most satisfied students in Britain’.

The award has been announced in a special pull-out of today’s Times newspaper (September 24). The feature highlights many of our strengths including: our compact campus; the close-knit community feel; our fantastic facilities and accommodation; and the placement opportunities and extra-curricular activities on offer to our students.

The student experience league table is drawn up using the proportion of positive responses (‘agree’ and ‘definitively agree’) from students to statements in the 2013 National Student Survey (NSS), relating to teaching quality; academic support, assessment and feedback; course organisation; learning resources; and overall satisfaction with courses.

Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, Vice-Chancellor, said: “This latest award is more good news and comes in the same week we are welcoming thousands of news students our campus.

“To have the efforts of staff and students recognised by this national award is great and reflects the dedication and commitment of all of you to ensure our students have the best possible all-round experience during their time here.”

Today’s award follows on from a third place ranking in yesterday’s Times supplement focusing on graduate prospects, and an overall ranking of seventh in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014.

We were also awarded the title of ‘Best Campus University’ in this year’s guide.
