Revised Dignity & Respect Policy

We have revised the Dignity & Respect for Students & Staff of the University of Bath: policy & procedure for dealing with complaints.

The review of the policy and procedure was completed with the involvement of staff and students from across the University. The revised policy and procedure was circulated for consultation to staff and student groups including the trade unions and Students’ Union.

The revised policy has been approved by the Executive Committee and is now effective.

It is available online on the Equalities webpages.

The revised policy:

  • is more accessible with reorganised and abbreviated wording;
  • includes guidelines for those accused of harassment, bullying or victimisation;
  • now directs formal student complaints under this policy through the formal stage of the Student Complaints Procedure.

Mark Humphriss, University Secretary and Chair of the Equality & Diversity Committee said: "We seek to ensure an environment that values every individual. The University will not tolerate harassment or bullying. This policy sets out the standards we expect our staff and students to follow and what to do if they are not."

If you have any queries about the policy & procedure, please contact Marlene Bertrand or your HR Manager for questions regarding staff issues.
