Our first ever Festival is this Saturday

Dear Colleague,

This Saturday we will welcome thousands of local people, and over 700 alumni, to join staff and students here on campus for our first ever Festival.

It will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate 50 years of achievement and to share all that is remarkable about our University today. As we make the final preparations, this is a good opportunity to sit back and reflect on what is set to be a great day for our whole community.

Do take some time to look through the Programme. I think you will agree it is a diverse and impressive line-up with over 100 sports, arts and research activities for our friends, neighbours (and ourselves) to discover and enjoy.

Tennis, judo, mini Olympics, chair making, musicals, face painting, black holes, fossils, steel bands, climbing, bath buskers, maths, submarines and microbial oils - just a taster of some of the things going on throughout the day - not forgetting the Red Devils freefall team and our giant T-Rex and Robot wars!

I do hope you will join us. Please spread the word with friends, family, local schools, colleagues, business partners – our festival is for everyone. People can find out more on our website where they can also book on to tours and talks.

Finally, the success of our Festival not only rides on the quality and diversity of the activities we will be sharing, but on the staff and students who will be working hard to help make things run smoothly on the day. Thank you to those of you who have already come forward, but we could do with a few more hands on deck. If you can help us, whether for a few hours or for the whole day, please do contact the events team. Your support will make such a difference and you will obviously be able to take any time worked back in lieu.

I look forward to seeing you next Saturday!
