15 days to nominate for the Staff Recognition Awards!

Nominations are now open for this year’s Staff Recognition Awards. Please click here to find out how you can nominate.

The Staff Recognition Awards recognise professional services/support staff who have shown excellence in their work and contributed to the broader life of the University. Last year’s awards were presented by the Vice-Chancellor at the Staff Recognition Evening where 140 invited guests enjoyed a drinks reception and dinner to celebrate loyal service and outstanding achievements.

Last year Dr Laura Wisby, Research Development Manager, won a Staff Recognition Award.  Laura commented, “The most important thing is doing my best to support the academics develop their research ideas and funding applications, trying to give them the support they deserve. Therefore being nominated meant a great deal to me."

The academic team who nominated Laura praised her for the way in which she had extended her support role to provide guidance on strategic academic grantsmanship. The selection committee made the award in recognition of Laura’s track record in submitting successful grant applications, her exceptional commitment and willingness to go “the extra mile”.

Laura’s work includes identifying opportunities and developing high quality research proposals to the MRC, BBSRC, NC3Rs, Wellcome Trust, NIHR and other relevant funders. As part of the Research Grant Development team, Laura also facilitates workshops and provides skills training for improving grant proposal outcomes.
