Mon Apr 07 15:30:00 BST 2014

The British International Studies Association has awarded an editorial team from the GW4 (comprising the universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter) the opportunity to create new journal, European Journal of International Security.

The team includes:

  • Professor Adrian Hyde-Price
  • Dr Bradley Thayer
  • Tim Edmunds (Bristol)
  • Jutta Weldes (Bristol)
  • Christian Bueger (Cardiff)
  • Anthony King (Exeter)

The editorial vision for the journal is to establish the new journal as one of the world’s leading inter-disciplinary international security journals advancing the cutting edge of international security research.

It seeks to showcase, promote and develop internationally diverse scholarship in international security. Moreover, it will address the full range of contemporary international security themes, including traditional issues of war, peace and violence, as well ‘ new’ security challenges such as climate change, cyber security, the spread of transformative, military and non-military technologies, and everyday experiences of insecurity, amongst others.

In addition, it seeks to support and develop disciplinary diversity and cross-disciplinary engagement around the unifying theme of international security scholarship.

The University of Bath’s participation with the journal helps to ensure that the Department of Politics, Languages, and International Studies (PoLIS) remains one of the top international politics Departments in the UK.
