Use of 把
When to use the 把 structure?
Use 把 when the subject causes the object to change its location or status. There is no equivalent of 把 in English, thus this connotation is little reflected in the English translation. However, 把 structure is often used in idiomatic expressions, to emphasize the change of location/status of the object resulting from the action of the subject.
subject + 把 + object + verb + result
我去把车子开过来。
I’ll go and get the car. (lit. I'll go and drive the car here.)
(The car is moved from the car park.)公司把我派去了日本。
The company sent me to Japan.
(My location was changed to Japan.)我就把您送到这儿。
I'll leave you here. (lit. I'll just send you here.)
('You' have been taken here from somewhere else.)您可以把行李寄存在这儿。
You can leave your luggage here.
(The location of the luggage is changed.)
