It's Lilly's first day at the company. There is another new employee starting on the same day. His name is Yuanfang Chen. They are met by Human Resources Manager Wang.

1. 部
我是人事部经理。I'm the Human Resources Manager.
部 is used as a suffix for departments in a company, e.g. 人事部 Human Resources Department, 销售部 Sales Department, 研发部 Research and Development Department. The word for 'department' is 部门. 你是哪一个部门的?Which department do you work for?
2. 欢迎
欢迎加入新华公司。Welcome to Xinhua Company. (lit. Welcome to join Xinhua Company.)
欢迎 means 'welcome'. It is put at the beginning of a sentence to say 'Welcome to…', the same as 欢迎你 You're welcome to…. Both expressions are always followed by a verb, e.g. 欢迎来中国. Welcome to (lit. Welcome to come to) China. 欢迎你来我家. Welcome to (lit. You're welcome to come to) my place.
3. 会
我会带你们熟悉一下环境。I will show you around so that you can become familiar with the environment.
The use of 会 here is to express a definite prediction.
4. 是……的
这栋办公楼是08年建的。 This office building was built in 2008.
The structure 是……的 is used for emphasis. 是 is put at the beginning of the emphasis and 的 is put at the end of the sentence. In the sentence above, 08年 is emphasized.
5. 给 and 为
我先给你们介绍一下公司的总体情况。 I'll first briefly introduce our company to you (lit. for you).
公司为每一位员工买了医疗保险。 The company has bought medical insurance for all staff.
给 and 为 are both used here as prepositions, meaning 'for' literally. They are interchangeable.
6. 左右, 多, 不到

7. 层 and 楼
在这栋楼的7, 8, 9三层。… on the 7th, 8th, and 9th, (altogether three) floors of the building.
层 is used as a measure word for 'floors 楼'. e.g.三层楼 three floors.
Note that 楼 is also a word used for 'building'. 这栋楼有五层(楼). This building has five floors. The second 楼 can be omitted to avoid repetition.
When referring to a specific floor, 楼 is usually used: 一楼 1st floor, 二楼 2nd floor.
销售部在七楼. The Sales Department is on the 7th floor.
我住在八楼. I live on the 8th floor. Compare with: 我住在八号楼. I live in Building No. 8.
8. 除了……, 还
除了销售部,这里还有什么别的部门?Apart from the Sales Department, what other departments are also here?
除了 means 'apart from, in addition to' and 还 means 'also'.
9. 可以
可以问你们的直属经理。 You can ask your line manager.
你们也可以问同事。You can also ask your colleagues.
可以 can is used here to indicate suggestion.
10. 之间 and 互相
我们公司鼓励同事之间互相帮助。 Our company encourages mutual help between colleagues.
之间 means 'between'. It is put after the noun, e.g. 我和他之间 between me and him. 之 is the ancient Chinese word for '的'.
互相 means 'mutually' and is always put before the verb. 互相了解 to know about each other.
11. 如果……, 就
如果请病假连续两天,就必须提供医生证明。 If you take sick leave for two consecutive days, then you must provide a doctor's certificate.
如果……, 就 is a pair of connectors meaning 'if…, then'.
