Chinese people combine the National Day and both weekends before and after to have a 7-day holiday. They call this week-long holiday 黄金周 'Golden Week'. It is a peak time for travel in China.
There are additional holidays for specific population groups:
三八妇女节 International Women’s Day (½ day off)
五四青年节 Youth Day (½ day off)
六一儿童节 Children’s Day (1 day off)
建军节 Army Day (1 day off)
