元旦 New Year’s Day, 1st January, 1 day off
春节 Spring Festival, 3 days off in January or February (Chinese New Year)
清明节 Tomb-sweeping Festival, 4th or 5th April, 1 day off
劳动节 Labour Day, 1st May, 3 days off
端午节 Dragon Boat Festival, 1 day off in June
国庆节 National Day, 1st October, 1 day off
中秋节 Mid-Autumn Festival, 3 days off in September or October

Chinese people combine the National Day and both weekends before and after to have a 7-day holiday. They call this week-long holiday 黄金周 'Golden Week'. It is a peak time for travel in China.

There are additional holidays for specific population groups:

三八妇女节 International Women’s Day (½ day off)

五四青年节 Youth Day (½ day off)

六一儿童节 Children’s Day (1 day off)

建军节 Army Day (1 day off)
