On 5th August 2016 Dr Jason Hart and his doctoral student Fran Johnson gave a briefing to the UK Home Office. This briefing was requested by a government unit tasked with monitoring and evaluating the Syrian Vulnerable Person resettlement programme.

Jason and Fran shared key findings from a study into ideas and practices around refugee integration in the UK over the last two decades. The meeting also involved representatives from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Organisation for Migration, and various UK based agencies working with forced migrants.

The study was undertaken as part of ongoing research. Jason Hart is currently working with Somerset County Council to explore and document the experience of resettlement of Syrian families across the county. Fran Johnson is undertaking doctoral research focussed on unaccompanied asylum seeking children and their experiences of integration in British society.
