About the role

This role is eligible for the Campus Services New Starter Bonus* (£1,000) and Campus Services Refer a Friend bonus.

Join the University of Bath’s Security team and play a vital role in keeping our students, staff and visitors safe across our campus, student accommodation and city buildings.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving security patrols, emergency response, first aid and welfare support. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and emergency services while using your initiative to manage incidents and provide a safe, welcoming environment for our university community.

About you

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Relevant security experience and sound judgement.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
The ability to remain calm and respond effectively to challenging situations.
Empathy and an understanding of welfare and mental health concerns.
Strong teamwork, problem-solving and IT skills.

You must hold a full, valid UK driving licence for manual and automatic vehicles. You must also hold an SIA Door Supervisor licence and First Aid at Work qualification, or be willing and eligible to obtain these within six months of starting. Mental Health First Aid training must be completed during probation. Relevant training will be provided.

Appointment is subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance.

The role operates on a rotating shift pattern covering 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including 12-hour shifts, night work and regular foot patrols.

The contracted working week is 38.5 hours, including two hours of contracted overtime. The role attracts a 15% shift allowance and a 10% market supplement.

Campus Services New Starter bonus*. In addition to the great benefits Campus Services’ offers, this role is eligible for a £1,000 bonus. This is payable the month after successfully passing your six months’ probation. Please note this bonus is pro rata for part time positions.

This role is also eligible for the Campus Services Refer a Friend bonus*. If a university staff member has ‘referred’ you to apply for this vacancy they may be eligible for a bonus.
