            <h2 id="isPasted">About the role</h2><p>The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with a strong alignment to robotics engineering and preferably artificial intelligence to undertake excellent research and deliver high-quality teaching. We are looking for outstanding researchers to enhance our research, join an expanding and ambitious department, and to shape the technology of the future in a vibrant and inclusive environment and to engage with plans to grow teaching in these areas with strategic partnerships.&nbsp;</p><p>The post will strengthen robotics as a cross-cutting research theme within Electronic and Electrical Engineering, linking sensing, embedded systems, control, and AI-enabled engineering. The successful applicant will be well placed to collaborate across the Faculty&rsquo;s research centres and institutes, particularly The Foundry, the Centre for Bioengineering &amp; Biomedical Technologies, the Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems and IAAPS. Areas of particular interest include autonomous and assistive robotics, human-machine interaction, AI-enabled perception and control, and resilient robotic systems for health, industrial, energy and manufacturing applications.</p><p>The successful applicant will build a research portfolio with potential for national and international impact. They will help the department equip our students with the ability to make outstanding contributions in the world around them, by fostering advanced knowledge and practical skills, and they will support and develop courses that are intellectually bold and academically stimulating.</p><h2>About you</h2><p>We are interested in applicants with core expertise in robotics, and an interest in electromechanical systems in general and ideally the application of artificial intelligence (AI).&nbsp;</p><p>You will be expected to contribute to our <a href="https://www.bath.ac.uk/catalogues/2024-2025/ee/ee-proglist-ug.html" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">undergraduate programmes in Electrical and Electronic Engineering</a> and postgraduate programmes including our <a href="https://www.bath.ac.uk/catalogues/2024-2025/ee/teee-afm22.html" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">MSc in Artificial Intelligence for Engineering and Design</a>, teaching in areas such as:&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Robotics and mechatronics</li><li>Human Machine Interaction</li><li>Robotics in healthcare and well-being</li><li>Applications of AI and data science in engineering</li></ul><p>The successful applicant will have a track record in fundamental and applied robotics research, ideally also in artificial intelligence, with the potential to develop a research portfolio, and a key interest in educating the next generation of engineers.</p><p>You will hold a PhD and an undergraduate degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering or a very closely related subject. Through your research and teaching, you will be passionate about addressing the global challenges and educating the next generation of electronic and electrical engineers.             <p id="isPasted">The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath is seeking to appoint a lecturer in electronic engineering to deliver high-quality teaching and research in microelectronics and embedded systems design.</p><p><strong>About the role</strong></p><p>You will teach aspects of digital systems, microelectronics (including integrated circuit design) and embedded systems design in both lectures and computational classes, across all years of our undergraduate degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering, with more specialised units in Advanced Microelectronics and Embedded Systems in the final years, maintaining the University&rsquo;s high standards in teaching and learning, and its inclusive and supportive learning environment.&nbsp;</p><p>You will develop an internationally leading independent research programme in microelectronics and embedded systems design.&nbsp;</p><p>Your research should be aligned with one of the following research centres from the Faculty of Engineering and Design, Institute for the Augmented Human (IAH), Centre for Digital, Manufacturing &amp; Design (The Foundry), Centre for Bioengineering &amp; Biomedical Technologies (CBio).</p><p>You will be supported to contribute at an appropriate level to the administration, leadership, and management of the Department&rsquo;s activities.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>About you</strong></p><p>At Bath we offer an exceptional environment for research teaching and learning and we wish to support you in reaching your potential for internationally leading research, in the broad field of microelectronics and embedded systems applied to electronic and electrical engineering.&nbsp;</p><p>We would be interested to hear from you if your research and teaching interests lie in advanced microelectronics design of devices and/or circuits in the following areas:</p><ul type="disc"><li>Integrated circuit design of CMOS circuits including circuit design, simulation, layout and application of deep submicron technologies</li><li>Embedded systems design and algorithms for embedded software systems.</li><li>Design of micro-electro-mechanical systems including sensors, amplifiers, mixed signal circuits, data converters, filters and digital to analog conversion.</li><li>Digital Design including programmable devices (FPGAs and CPLDs) and processor design.</li><li>Application and skills in electronic design automation software for circuit design, integrated circuits, simulation, hardware description languages, synthesis, layout and process flows.</li></ul><p>You should hold a PhD in Electronic &amp; Electrical Engineering (or a closely related subject) and be able to demonstrate the potential to develop an internationally leading research programme, to acquire significant funding from UK and international sources, and to produce high quality publications.</p><p><strong>Additional information</strong></p><p>You will be joining a progressive and thriving academic environment and will benefit from the collaborative and well-established Department and Faculty systems at the University of Bath.
