Description: Aims:
To provide a comprehensive of the impact of microclimatic parameters and environmental quality on the design of external environments in the urban context.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the Unit students will have demonstrated advanced knowledge and systematic understanding of the effects of environmental conditions, and the built environment in outdoor and transition spaces; means of comprehensive analysis for the environmental quality in these spaces.

Skills:
Critical evaluation of the effect of the urban environment in environmental quality and design conflicts. Modelling of different aspects of environmental quality. Communication skills. These skills are taught, facilitated and assessed.

Content:
Principles of urban climatology and outdoor comfort, air pollution and environmental quality for different climatic contexts. Implications of climate change. Design tools for the assessment of microclimate and environmental quality of external environments.
