| Description: | Aims: (to enable the students to) * work with other professionals; * provide information to support decision making; * develop their own resources. Learning Outcomes: (the students will be able to) * demonstrate effective and co-operative relationships with colleagues and other professionals; * share information, advice and skills effectively with other professionals; * obtain and analyse information for decision making; * record and store information appropriately to setting, local and national requirements; * demonstrate improvements and changes to own personal practice, knowledge and understanding; * manage effectively their own time and resources; * demonstrate the skills and knowledge for effective managerial competence, performance and team work. Skills: Communication, information handling, management competence, monitoring and evaluation, planning, time management. Content: This unit will include study of the legislation and regulations of the sector, including those related to storage and handling of information. The role of the Senior Practitioner will be examined and analysed. Leadership and management skills and styles will be explored and analysed, comparing settings, communities and cultures. The practitioner's own role and working relationships with other agencies and professionals will be examined in the context of principles, processes, and information. Management of self, resources and time will be examined. Continuous professional development will be a key concept of this unit. |
